Glossary – module

Will allow to have a centrally managed glossary that can be used by anyone and each term can be defined differently by different groups (variations)

Functionality 

  • Term List:
    • A list or table displaying the terms or glossary entries, often in alphabetical order.
    • Pagination with A-Z links
    • Show N-entries by default
    • Allow change number of terms per page
  • Multi-Definitions
    • Allow different people (teams) to define their own meaning of the term according to their group, if applicable
  • Term Details View:
    • A detailed view that displays the full definition and information for a selected term when a user clicks on it.
  • Add or Edit Terms:
    • If permitted, allow authorized users to add or edit glossary terms, with appropriate approval or moderation mechanisms.
    • When you adding a new term, in addition to a term, you need to add a minimum of 1 or more definitions. You shouldn’t be able to add the term without providing at minimum of one definition
  • Deleting Terms / Definitions (soft delete)
    • When deleting a ‘term’ with ‘multiple definitions’, delete ‘all definitions’ after a confirmation that ‘term’ and ‘all definitions’ will be deleted
    • When deleting the only ‘term definition’ (one term->one definition), also delete the ‘term’ after giving a notice that the ‘term’ will also be deleted
      • * When deleting one ‘definition’, but multiple definitions exist, do not delete the term!
  • Search and Filter Options:
    • Filters and search boxes to allow users to find specific terms quickly based on keywords, categories, or alphabetic filtering.
  • Enable users to leave comments or provide ratings for glossary terms to offer feedback or additional insights.
  • Use User Comments and Ratings Module
  • Linking to Related Terms:
    • Include links to related terms or cross-references, enhancing the user’s ability to explore the glossary comprehensively.
  • Term Synonyms:
    • Displaying synonyms or related terms for the selected glossary entry to help users understand the term better.
  • Term Abbreviations:
    • For acronyms or abbreviations, provide the full expanded form along with the abbreviation.
  • Options to print or export glossary content for offline reference or documentation purposes.

  • Version History:
    • Use Activity Logs Module
  • Attachments:
    • Use Attachments Module
  • Term References:
    • Use URLs Module
  • In-Module
    • Allow to link terms within other models
